WACO, Texas – Compassus, a nationwide network of community-based hospice, palliative, and home health care, has opened a new location in Waco, Texas. The new location, an extension of the Compassus – Central Texas program, will expand access to patients and families in Bosque, Coryell, Falls, Hill and McLennan counties.
Compassus – Waco provides high-quality and compassionate hospice care to improve quality of life for patients facing a life-limiting illness and their families. The supportive care team, which consists of physicians, nurses, hospice aides, social workers, chaplains and volunteers, works together to meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of patients, wherever they call home.
This comprehensive approach to health care continues to be underutilized throughout the United States. Studies have proven earlier access to hospice care and longer lengths of stay improve patient and family satisfaction. In Texas, just over half (52.1%) of Medicare decedents were enrolled in hospice at the time of death in 2017. Nationally, 40.5% of beneficiaries received 14 days or less of care.
“Our new location in Waco will allow us to increase awareness of the benefits and access to the services available to those with serious and life-limiting illness,” said Jake Glover, executive director. “Our goal is to help patients and families gain access to the right level of care at the right time to support and improve their end-of-life journeys.”
Compassus – Waco is located at 6801 Sanger Avenue, Suite 190, in Waco, Texas. For more information, visit our Waco web page or call (254) 870-5174.
