What’s Your Why Andrew Monroe

andrew monroeFor Senior Vice President, Division President Andrew Monroe in Brentwood, TN, purpose comes from living Compassus’ core values—compassion, integrity, excellence, and teamwork. He finds fulfillment in supporting teammates, knowing his work translates to exceptional patient care.

Andrew is motivated by the everyday impact of Compassus, from inspiring team success to heartfelt gratitude from families. A recent conversation with a grieving husband reaffirmed his “why”—because every act of care makes a lasting difference.

Q: What personal values drive you in your role, and how does your work align with those values?
A: My personal values align with our Core Values very closely, especially compassion, integrity, excellence, and teamwork. Being at a place professionally where I can be my true authentic self is so important and beneficial.

Q: What was the defining moment that made you feel proud to be part of this team or field?
A: It’s not necessarily one defining moment but more so the consistent stories that we hear every week from our teammates about the care we are providing and the difference we are making in people’s lives when they are at their most vulnerable.

Q: How do you feel your work makes a difference for the people we serve or the team around you?
A: I truly care for our teammates. I give my all every day and hope that the conversations I’m having and the decisions that I’m making translate to an exemplary experience at the bedside for our patients and families.

Q: What part of your job gives you the most satisfaction or fulfillment?
A: Seeing teammates achieve success and realize their full potential.

Q: How has working here helped you grow or develop, personally or professionally?
A: Being blessed with working with so many talented individuals, it inspires me to continue to grow and develop personally and professionally. The people at Compassus are a cut above the rest and motivate you to continually improve.

Q: What motivates you to keep coming back, even on challenging days?
A: Our mission and our team.

Q: If you were to tell a friend or family member why your work matters, what would you say?
A: Because we are changing the way that America receives home health, hospice, palliative, and infusion care. We have the platform to make it happen.

Q: What’s one story or interaction with a patient/client that reminds you why you’re here?
A: I had a conversation last week with a gentleman whose wife passed away on our hospice service. He took the time to write a letter and acknowledge multiple teammates that were involved in his wife’s care. During our conversation, he was so appreciative and grateful. The fact that he took the time to write that letter while he was actively mourning the loss of the love of his life was incredibly touching.
