Care Moment – 101 Year Old Birthday

In the heart of Tulsa, Oklahoma, our Compassus hospice program recently had the privilege of celebrating a truly remarkable milestone – treasured patient, Sidney Horn becoming an official Oklahoma Centenarian.

In Oklahoma, there’s a group of extraordinary volunteers known as the “Oklahoma Centenarians” who make it their mission to honor those who have reached the remarkable age of 100 and beyond. When they heard Sidney was coming up on her 101st birthday in the next month, they knew they had to be a part of the Centenarian Celebration.

Compassus Volunteer Coordinator, Regina Marshall, was determined to make Sidney’s Centenarian Celebration unforgettable. With the support of Sidney’s family, Regina coordinated a special gathering, complete with a delicious cake and heartfelt decorations.

But the celebration didn’t stop there. Compassus CNA, Lasondra Reagor, ensured that Sidney was dressed to the nines for her special day. Sidney wore a hat carefully selected from her treasured collection of pill hats – a symbol of her unique style and personality.

As the party commenced, the entire Compassus team came together to honor Sidney. Roger Shepperd, our chaplain, Kristal Malveaux, our social worker, and Jeffery Spellins, our DCS, joined in the festivities, spreading joy and laughter throughout the room.

With the presentation of a certificate and a “Golden Okie” button, Sidney became an official member of the esteemed Oklahoma Centenarians. The love and admiration for Sidney were palpable as she basked in the warmth of her loved ones and caregivers.

To the entire Tulsa Team at Compassus, this celebration was more than just a party – it was a testament to the unwavering commitment to our “Care for Who I am” philosophy. Your dedication to advancing well-being and honoring quality of life shines brightly through moments like these.

And to Sidney Horn, our favorite Golden Okie, we extend our warmest wishes for continued health, happiness, and many more joyful years ahead. Your resilience and spirit inspire us all. Happy (early) 101st birthday, Sidney – may your days continue to be filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
