RENTON, Wash., and BRENTWOOD, Tenn. โ Providence, a not-for-profit health system serving the Western U.S., and Compassus, a leading national provider of integrated home-based care services, announced today they have finalized the first phase of a joint venture for home health, hospice and community-based palliative care in Alaska, Texas and Washington.ย ย
The new entity will operate under the name Providence at Home with Compassus. In Lubbock, Texas, the Covenant Health hospice program that is part of the Providence family of organizations will be rebranded as Covenant Health at Home with Compassus.ย
Under the agreement, Compassus will manage operations for the joint venture, which will include six home health locations in Alaska and Washington, and five hospice and palliative care locations in Alaska, Texas and Washington.ย ย
โThis venture is about meeting people where they are in the comfort of their own homes while delivering the compassionate care they need,โ said Terri Warren, chief of community services at Providence. โBy joining forces with Compassus, weโre creating a new model of care that combines our legacy of service with innovative solutions to support patients and families during lifeโs most critical moments.โย
The joint venture leverages Compassusโ proven expertise in home-based care delivery, operational excellence and advanced technology. It positions both organizations to meet the growing demand for home health and hospice services while addressing challenges such as rising health care costs and workforce shortages.ย
โAt Compassus, we believe in transforming care delivery to improve outcomes for patients and communities,โ said Mike Asselta, chief executive officer of Compassus. โThis partnership with Providence allows us to scale our mission, combining resources to provide more patients with the high-quality care they deserve, wherever they call home.โย
Compassus tailors its comprehensive home-based care to the needs of each patient to improve outcomes, providing services that include home health, home infusion, palliative and hospice care. The companyโs more than 7,000 team members serve patients across more than 280 locations in 32 states. Compassus has a strong track record of joint ventures with not-for-profit health systems, having forged similar joint ventures with providers such as Ascension, Bon Secours Mercy Health and OhioHealth.ย
Providence and Compassus are committed to ensuring the quality and continuity of care for patients and their families. The new organization will continue to provide spiritually grounded care to help improve quality of life. The organizations will also work collaboratively to support the home health, hospice, palliative and private duty caregivers transferring employment to the joint venture, where there will be continuity in local services delivered and caregivers will experience comparable benefits and pay practices. For caregivers under a Collective Bargaining Agreement, the joint venture will honor the terms of their existing CBA.ย
While the joint venture has launched in Alaska, Texas and Washington, operations in Oregon and California are expected to be finalized in the coming months, pending anticipated regulatory reviews and approvals.ย ย
