RICHMOND, Virg. – The Bon Secours Hospice by Compassus program serving Richmond, Virginia, and surrounding areas is pleased to announce the appointment of Michele Irons, MD, as medical director.
Dr. Irons brings a wealth of experience with 20 years in health care, including over nine years dedicated to hospice care. In her career, she has earned her Hospice Medical Director certification and is a proud fellow of the American College of Physicians.
“Dr. Irons will be a valued addition to our team,” said Colleen Swick Ordini, Compassus hospice regional vice president. “Her commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care aligns seamlessly with our mission. We are confident that her expertise will help us continue to elevate the quality of end-of-life care for patients and their families in Richmond and the surrounding communities.”
In her role as medical director, Dr. Irons will oversee the medical care delivered by the hospice program in Richmond. She will work closely with an interdisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, social workers and other dedicated professionals to ensure that each patient receives the highest standard of care.
Dr. Irons completed her undergraduate studies at the College of William and Mary, earned her master’s from Virginia State University and received her medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine. She also completed her Internal Medicine Residency at Eastern Virginia Medical School and is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
