MERCY HEALTH HOME CARE AND HOSPICE BY COMPASSUS TO PROVIDE CARE IN GREATER PADUCAH AREA

PADUCAH, K.Y. โ€“ The Mercy Health Home Care and Hospice programs serving the greater Paducah, Kentucky, area, including Metropolis, Illinois, announced a new name today: Mercy Health Home Care and Hospice by Compassus. The name change reflects a joint venture partnership between Bon Secours Mercy Health, the fifth-largest Catholic health system in the U.S., and Compassus, a leading national provider of innovative home-based health care services, finalized earlier this year.

Locations in Paducah and Metropolis formerly managed by Mercy Health will be rebranded and managed by the partnership except the Ray and Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center at Mercy Health, which is not part of the joint venture.

While the name is changing, patients and families will continue to receive the same high-quality, compassionate care from the team members they know and trust. The partnership with Compassus allows for an added level of support for patientsโ€™ ongoing journeys across the care continuum and beyond the health system walls.

โ€œWeโ€™re proud to collaborate with Compassus to continue delivery of high-quality, person-centered home health and hospice care to patients and families,โ€ said Kay Williams, hospice area executive of clinical operations at Mercy Health Hospice by Compassus. โ€œWith Compassusโ€™ expertise and our reputation for excellence in the greater Paducah community, we look forward to furthering our commitment to providing compassionate care at the right time.โ€

By 2030, the U.S. Census Bureau estimates nearly a quarter of Kentuckyโ€™s residents will be older than 60, an increase of more than 32% since 2012. With most adults desiring to age in place, the need for home-based care services is projected to grow nationwide. The U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services reports nearly 21,000 patients elected hospice in the state last year.
